Description
-
Photograph of a georgian style house located in Gilmanton, New Hampshire. It is noted the picture was taken in June of 1926. It is likely the picture shows a different angle of the house in images 010_MJ_137_109 and 010_MJ_137_110, but this is uncertain. The house has a centrally located main entrance and is surrounded by symmetrically placed windows. It is two stories and has a single story addition to the left. The house is constructed into a hill so a portion of the foundation is exposed under the front facade and windows allow light into the basement. Large trees and tall grasses conceal most of the house and offer shade during the summer. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. When possible we have indicated if it is a repeat image, however this is not always the case. As such, there may be a corresponding digitized glass lantern slide, and a mounted stereographic card associated with this stereographic negative within the Mark Jefferson Collection.
