Photograph of a palmetto tree growing on the banks of a marsh. Tall grasses grow up around the tree, covering the landscape. It is noted that where the Palmetto tree is growing in a part of a see island and the marshes are to the right. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. When possible we have indicated if it is a repeat image, however this is not always the case. As such, there may be a corresponding digitized glass lantern slide, and a mounted stereographic card associated with this stereographic negative within the Mark Jefferson Collection.
