Description
-
A woman and a child churn butter on their farm in Iowa. The woman turns a crank which turns the large wooden barrel full of milk. The fat from the milk separates, is skimmed off of the top of the milk, and is used to make butter. Slide labeled with text, "Made by G.R. Swain, 713 E. University Ave., Ann Arbor, Michigan." Swain was staff photographer at U of M from 1913 to 1947.
