Description

The stick frame of an Indian wigwam at the head of the Mississippi River in Minnesota. A man stands next to the stick structure and inspects one of the logs. Grass covers the ground and trees grow around the structure. Twain was born in 1835 and died in 1910. He is known for writing The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Slide labeled with text, "Made by G.R. Swain, 713 E. University Ave., Ann Arbor, Michigan." Swain was staff photographer at U of M from 1913 to 1947.
