Pinyon trees in Arkansas Valley, Colorado. The Pinyon tree is a species of evergreen that is well-adapted to arid climates in the southwest and Colorado regions of the United States. The large trees dot the landscape and grow on the steep mountain face. Large boulders surround the trees and dead timbers are scattered on the ground.
