Up-close view of the crater of the Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Heavy mineral deposits create steps and formations around the mouth of the geyser, and water fills the pools created by the deposits. The landscape is barren due to the high levels of minerals in the water, but trees grow on the edge of the mineral field in the background.
