The stone gate of large house "Europe trip. 1911"

Item

Title
The stone gate of large house "Europe trip. 1911"
Photographer
Likely, Mark Jefferson
Description
Photograph of a stone gate near a courtyard in front of a house in Europe. It is noted the picture was taken in 1911. The stone arches are square and ornately decorated at their tops with roof-like carvings. A single cross has been etched into the face of the post furthest from the camera. Wrought iron decoration covers the fence and dense hedges conceal a portion of the front facade. The house appears to be several stories tall and appears to be constructed of brick. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. When possible we have indicated if it is a repeat image, however this is not always the case. As such, there may be a corresponding digitized glass lantern slide, and a mounted stereographic card associated with this stereographic negative within the Mark Jefferson Collection.
