Constructed for the 1909 Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition, the Forestry Building at the University of Washington was made of unhewn fir logs taken from Snohomish County forests. The building was razed in 1931 after the logs deteriorated from insect invasion and the University of Washington Husky Union Building was constructed in its place. The Forestry Building was designed to not look like a log cabin, but to utilize architectural lines and designs with mostly natural materials. The image looks down on the main floor from the second story balcony.
