Smolny Convent Built to house Elizabeth, the daughter of Peter the Great, when she was denied succession to the throne and decided to become a nun. Her predecessor was overthrown in a coup and she was offered the throne and chose it over becoming a nun. Architect was Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli and it was built 1748 and 1764. Today it is used as a concert hall.

St. Isaac's Cathedral Largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in the city. It is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, a patron saint of Peter the Great. Built from 1818-1858 by architect Auguste Montferrand. Decorated with sculptures and massive granite columns. The church closed in the 1930s and reopened as a museum. Trees surround the base of the building. Cars parked lower half. Tour busses parked in front with people.

Winter Palace Palace from 1732 to 1917, was the official residence of the Russian Monarchs. Fourth winter palace built and was continuously altered between the late 1730s-1837. Groupings of people in front of the palace. Busses parked in front of palave. Black brick on the ground.

Old Royal Palace Central is the Old Royal Palace. Construction was completed in 1843. Neoclassical architecture designed by Friedrich von G�rtner for King Otto and his Queen Amalia. Has housed Hellenic Parliament since 1934.

Little Mitropolis Left is the metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. Lower right is the Lilttle Mitropolis, built in the 12th century, the former Cathedral. Tree in center.

Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens Construction began 1842 on Christmas and was completed 1862. Marble from 72 demolished churches was used to construct the wall. It has three flat sides and the fourth side is a dome. Two towers are in image center and left. Parked cars in lower left corner along with street light. Tree right lower edge.

Ulm Minster Luthern Church made of stone masonry and is the tallest church in the world. The foundation was laid in 1377, but was not completed until 1890. Gothic style architecture.

Helblinghaus Construction of this house began in the 15th century and evolved with different architectural styles. Baroque facades and gothic styles of 15th and 16th centuries molded the building, which began as townhouses. Rococo decorations were added during the 1700s.
