    Image from a published source. aerial picture of Casma Bay, Peru. A small town can be seen in the valley of the mountain and the plateau. The landscape is rugged and mountainous. Slide labeled with text, "Made by G.R. Swain, 713 E. University Ave., Ann Arbor, Michigan." Swain was staff photographer at U of M from 1913 to 1947.

    A photograph of a previously chipped tree with a new chipping pan on the back of the tree. Pine trees are often tapped for resin collection. Scars from the chipping process can be seen on the side of the tree with new bark growth. A forest of pine trees can be seen in the background.

  • Bad footing along ditch. Wall enclosed Huerta

    Canal or ditch that is running alongside a stone wall that is surrounding a Huerta. It is noted that the ground along the canal is uneven and has bad footing. Slide labeled with text, "Made by G.R. Swain, 713 E. University Ave., Ann Arbor, Michigan." Swain was staff photographer at U of M from 1913 to 1947.

    Photograph of an open field. Bales of hay can be seen in the field. Stands of trees grow in the background. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. When possible we have indicated if it is a repeat image, however this is not always the case. As such, there may be a corresponding digitized glass lantern slide, and a mounted stereographic card associated with this stereographic negative within the Mark Jefferson Collection.
  • Balloon framing on a new house "Building a brick veneer house. Hurdley's, Normal St. Ypsilanti. Summer, 1912"

    Photograph depicting balloon framing construction of a new house at 298 North Normal Street Ypsilanti, Michigan. It is noted the house will be a brick veneer style, is located on Normal Street, and was constructed in 1912. The picture shows the beginning stages of the balloon framing for the exterior walls of the house. The photograph also shows the poured concrete foundation. Several neighboring houses can be seen in the picture, along with the Ypsilanti Water Tower. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. When possible we have indicated if it is a repeat image, however this is not always the case. As such, there may be a corresponding digitized glass lantern slide, and a mounted stereographic card associated with this stereographic negative within the Mark Jefferson Collection.

  • Bar joining Empire and Sleeping Bear Bluffs. East shore Lake Michigan

    A sandy bar joins the Sleeping Bear Bluffs and Empire, Michigan. A small shack can be seen on the shoreline in the foreground. Dune grass and trees cover the landscape of both the mainland and the bluffs. A bare sand dune can be seen in the background but most of the dunes are covered with trees.
  • Barn and log cabin "Houses, buildings, and cityscapes"

    Photograph of a barn and log cabin. The small log cabin is a story and a half. The cabin is constructed of hewn timbers, with chinking filling the cracks in between the logs. A windmill and a gambrel roof barn stands on the property to the right and the landscape is covered with grass and small bushes. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. When possible we have indicated if it is a repeat image, however this is not always the case.   • Barn and other buildings on a cattle farm"Houses, buildings, and cityscapes"

    Photograph of a cattle farm with multiple out buildings and barns. The large two and a half story Upright and Wing farm house stands at the front of the farm, facing the road. Four different outbuildings and barns can be seen behind the house. These buildings appear to be an english style or a slight variation of that style. A large gambrel roof barn stands behind the grazing pasture where the cows are, and a massive stack of hay is constructed next to the barn. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card.
