Bolivia. Indian weaver
Image from a published source. An Indian weaver is sitting on a rock making a rug or poncho in Bolivia. The weaver is using a type of loom called a backstrap loom, where the warps are stretched between two pieces of wood. He is using a shuttles to weave material through the warps. Slide labeled with text, "Made by G.R. Swain, 713 E. University Ave., Ann Arbor, Michigan." Swain was staff photographer at U of M from 1913 to 1947. -

Native farmers can be seen walking with two donkeys away from the llamas and the landscape in the background is mountainous and rugged. Boluders near a mountain range "Colorado. Undated"
Photograph of a large boulders taken in Colorado. The rocks are light in color and show signs of weathering and erosion. Sparse vegetation can be seen in the midground. Large mountains rise in the background. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. When possible we have indicated if it is a repeat image, however this is not always the case. As such, there may be a corresponding digitized glass lantern slide, and a mounted stereographic card associated with this stereographic negative within the Mark Jefferson Collection. -
Bottom lands buried in waste from deforested mountains. Wu-tai-shan. Shan-si province. China
Rocky landscape in Wu-tai-shan of the Shan-si province in China. It is noted that the lands at the base of the deforested mountains are buried in waste. Large boulders and rocks cover the barren landscape, and several buildings and stepped agricultural fields can be seen at the base of the mountains. There is no vegetation. -
Boulder Belt north of Dexter, Michigan
Landscape of a boulder belt in Dexter, Michigan. Large boulders are scattered throughout the field in the foreground, but have been cleared from the field in the background. A farm can be seen sitting on the hill in the distance and a wooden fence divides the two fields. -

Photograph of a canyon taken in Colorado. There are large boulders and vegetation on near the camera. Large canyon formations stand to the left and right of the camera. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. Photograph of a river taken in Colorado. The river rushes over boulders and rocks. A large glacial deposit can be seen in the background.
