Roosevelt School Oral Histories

In fall 2023, Matt Jones’ Oral History Techniques students began documenting the stories of Roosevelt Model School alumni in an effort to better understand the relationships between Michigan State Normal College, Eastern Michigan University, and the greater Ypsilanti and Southeast Michigan community. After extensive research in the University Archives, each student was tasked with interviewing two Roosevelt alums about their experience at the school, who ranged from the graduating class of 1947 to 1969—the final year of the school’s operation. This collection is ongoing, and Roosevelt alums are encouraged to contact the Center for Oral History Research if there is an interest in being interviewed.

This collection is currently being processed. In the meantime, take a look at Leonard Menzi's Roosevelt School photograph collection.
