Title
New Hampshire Hall and Parlor House. New Concord, New Hampshire. "New Concord, New Hampshire. June 1926. Farm house & barn connected (410 house)"
Photographer
Likely, Mark Jefferson
Description
A wider angle of the house in image 010_MJ_137_112, near Concord, New Hampshire. The original house appears to be closest to the road and is likely a hall and parlor with a central passage. The first addition is a small, single story wing addition on the back of the original house and it is unclear if is original to the house or put on at a later date. The second addition is two stories and located on the back of the original house. Central chimneys rise out of the ridgelines of both the original house and second addition, and wall dormers can be seen on the back of the second addition. A single story connecting building runs between the second addition and the large barn to the left. This house type is unusual because it is rare that the barn would be connected to the main house, but they are often called Telescoping Houses, and in this particular region, a New England Connecting Barn. Jefferson would often use the same negative to create a lantern slide as well as a mounted stereographic card. When possible we have indicated if it is a repeat image, however this is not always the case. As such, there may be a corresponding digitized glass lantern slide, and a mounted stereographic card associated with this stereographic negative within the Mark Jefferson Collection.
